    The client

Chase Grammar School is a private boarding and day school for children aged two - 19 years. We’ve worked together to promote its milestone events, such as GCSE and A-Level results day, managed its social media, organised focus groups and promoted its enrichment events in the local print and broadcast press.

    The campaign

Chase Grammar wanted to form links with local primary schools in order to increase numbers in its prep school, Lyncroft House Preparatory School. We organised a poetry competition for local schools, judged by poet and author of the classic children’s story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, Michael Rosen.

We put together the competition format and rules, arranging the grand finale to be held at Chase Grammar School with Michael Rosen attending to listen to the 'Top Ten' poems and declare the winner.

On the day, more than 100 pupils from local primary schools attended with their teachers to listen to the ten finalists read out their poems and hear Michael’s feedback. After announcing the winner, all the children got to meet the author, who took time to speak to every pupil and have his photograph taken.

More than 100 children from local primary schools attended and all went away with a Chase Grammar School goody bag. This was also the second time in six weeks one of Chase Grammar School’s enrichment events were featured on BBC Midlands Today’s evening news, with additional coverage secured in Staffordshire Living, Express & Star Wolverhampton, Stafford Express & Star.

“The team at Papillon is creative, reliable and through this event helped us to form great links with local schools. Getting Michael into the school was a fantastic idea; it went a long way to increasing the children’s love of literacy and they loved seeing themselves on the evening news reading out their poems.”
