      Katie Whirledge - Founder/Director

      Katie founded Papillon at her kitchen table in 2010, following 20 years’ experience as a journalist, advertising executive, copywriter and PR consultant. She’s seen and (almost!) done it all, and now divides her time between the cosmopolitan Walton-on-Trent and Leicestershire. Clients love Katie because she's commercial, confident and entirely entertaining. We love her because she’s always buying us lunch and telling us all about her adventures.



      Jonathan Boddy – Crisis and Media Communications Partner

      Jonathan is our crisis guru, a veteran who in the past 20 years has managed every scenario you could possibly imagine. As a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), Jonathan is reassuringly calm is a crisis but does a great job emulating Jeremy Paxman during media training sessions. 



      Julie Hull - Office Manager

      Julie brings a calm, problem solving head to the role and a wealth of experience in HR and financial management practices. She is in charge of smoothy overseeing our business operations.

      Her favourite thing to do outside of work is going to boxing with her daughter Beth who competes regularly in a wide range of competitions and tournaments. Another fun fact about Julie is she has 7 separate metal plates in her body and she once sang the song 'Crazy' on karaoke with Tyson Fury!



      Helen Knight - Senior Account Manager

      Helen joins our team after more than 15 years in journalism and has an expert grasp on how to tell a great story to generate a wide range of media coverage. She now uses her vast media knowledge to speak for our communities, telling their great stories for everyone to hear.

      In her spare time, Helen loves writing, and enjoys a good jigsaw; running (but not very far); gardening; 3D felting; and exploring the countryside.



      Amie Blockley – Account Executive

      Amie (currently on maternity leave) received a first class honours in Psychology with Education Studies, a masters degree in Educational Leadership and experience working in Primary, Secondary and Higher Education roles over five years. This thorough understanding of the education sector as a whole means she has become a specialised Account Executive for clients focused on learning in particular.

      In her spare time, she's a trustee for the Burton YMCA and a drummer/vocalist in a number of bands - performing live most weekends. She also has two cats named Zelda and Cleo.



      Kelsey Mitchell – Account Executive

      Kelsey joins the team after teaching Secondary English for 3 years. She was the SEND specialist for her department so led on all inclusion strategies to ensure all students had the very best experience. She also has a degree in American Studies and Popular Music in Society. She loves writing and now wants to embrace the world of PR Media and Communications.

      Outside of work, Kelsey is a keen seamstress and makes clothes for her and her loved ones. She also speaks fluent German and loves spending quality time with her cats Daisy and Bramble.



      Alex Overton– PR and Digital Marketing Apprentice

      Alex arrives with a strong production background and a degree in Film & Media Production. He previously worked as a photographer, capturing weddings and public events. He primarily has experience in video editing and filmmaking. Alex strives to build his marketing skill set at Papillon so that his creative abilities will be developed and expanded upon.

      He is an admirer of film, his favourite franchises are Jurassic Park and Star Wars in particular. Alex loves his classic rock and frequently attends music events across the country.



      Karen Cureton – Social Media Training Partner

      Karen has a strong sales and marketing background with over twenty-five years both in retail and business. Her corporate career was as a Sales Director for a national Housebuilder. She left corporate world in 2008 to set up her Sales and Social Media Consultancy based near East Midlands Airport.

      Karen now offers a range of services which are primarily:
      • Sales Training
      • Twitter, Facebook , Instagram and LinkedIn training
      • Social Media Management
      • Social Media Strategy and planning
      • Social Media Mentor Programme

      She now works with SME’s and on occasion larger companies offering the above services for their teams to build their skills in these areas. She is proud to have a high client retention rate and most of her clients come through referral.


      Cheryl Morris - Account Manager

      Cheryl worked as a journalist for over 15 years and her passion is helping businesses to tell their story whether it is through their website wording, newsletters, case studies or brochures. She is an expert in tailoring key messages and stories for relevant regional, broadcast and national press to create further brand awareness and change the narrative.
      Outside of Papillon, she is the Director of her own PR company Creative Word PR and a mum. She provides us with expert insight and a fresh perspective on key campaigns.
